On behalf of my former collegues may I apologise for the lack of response last time.

Make sure you check opening times before your visit as the library has different hours than the museum - in which it is housed.

I did send an e-mail to the library a couple of years ago but go no reply. I am hoping to visit the library and museum in the new year so I will definitely give it a better go this time

I'm a retired Museum Officer and was the editor of the Salford LifeTimes Link magazine which has the photo of Leaf Square.

The best depository for old photos of Salford is Salford Local History Library and the staff there are very helpful.

thanks kucinta. i've looked through lots of these mags and appear to have missed this one. it gives the slightest glimpse of the size of the houses, just hoping the full picture shows up one day

Is there anybody out there who may have a picture of the houses that made up Leaf Square Pendleton Salford.
My gg grandfather lived there for nearly 30 years, from before 1891 until after 1911. I have been told that they were large grand houses in a very affluent part of Salford. I have never seen a picture of them or the area other than a first picture of the grammer school that took the place of most of these houses and a 1963 picture again showing the grammer school.
I know nearly everything about the area but the only thing missing now is a picture.
I have seen L S Lowry pencil drawings which were supposed to be of the area but these obviously don't give the same impression.
Salford University and Museum are now the main hub of this area but even they couldn't help.
