Can't view others trees

This site is not like Ancestry - where all public trees are open to everyone

On here all trees are Private and you have to send a request to the tree 'owner' to view their tree.

However, when contacting people to view their trees do ensure that you give some information on why you want to view their tree, such as why you think there is a connection and give a few names/DOBs/places etc.,

Do not just ask to view someones tree without giving some hint to the connections you think you have as you will most likely not even get a reply.... too many of us on here have in the past let people view our trees only to find that that person has copied our trees lock stock and barrel onto their own.

Zelda,

As mentioned even as a standard (i.e. paid up) member, you can only access other trees when you have contacted the member concerned and they have given you specific permission to see their tree.

Once they have given you permission there are various ways you can access.

From My Contacts those you have access too will have a tick against the members name and the word View. Click on view to access their tree. If there is a cross and the word Request then you don't have permission.

Alternatively, open your own tree, click view other trees then click Trees shared with me. This will bring up a list of all the trees you have been granted access to.

If you still can't access and are certain the other member has given permission then you will need to contact the GR Support team.

You can only look at other trees if you are a paid member and have asked the person who's tree it is to open it for you.
