On William Clifton Buck jnrs marriage certificate 19/04/1840 he gives his father's occupation as "a gentleman's servant". His own is a traveller.

My husband and I have spent the weekend working on our tree. We have been tracing his line and have discovered his 3xG grandfather was a traveller. I am keen to learn more about him but seem to be drawing a blank. This is what I have so far:
William Clifton Buck was born in 1818 in Shoreditch. He married Charlotte Perkins in 1840 in Kent. Their daughter Emma Clifton Buck was born in 1841 in Kent.
The family did end up back in Shoreditch though where Emma married Charles Pearce in 1864 in Hoxton. I have managed to locate them in each census. William was later shown as a hawker.
I know William's father was also William Clifton Buck. I guess he was born around 1790-1800. I am now keen to learn more about them. A Google search tells me Buck was a Romany name. And the fact he was a traveller when he married and then later a hawker does imply there may be Romany blood in them,
I'd be grateful for any help you can give though!
