i have copies of photos to which was forwarded onto me from a 3rd cousin in Australia whom i found had my gr grandmother in her tree, to which her gr grandnmother and mine were sisters.
Now she had held onto some photos for years and years but didnt know whom they related to back in England, well she forward them onto me and wow there was my grandfather (as a young man) alongside his siblings and my gr grandparents, she also sent me copies ofmy gr gr grandparents.
Its amazing that this photos were sent to Australia in early 1900s and for me to see my ancestors was astonishing.
Since these photos were established to whom they related to, we have both searched connections within our trees and have made contact with all our gr grandmothers descendants, and having a get together in the summer. We are travelling from all over the place.
My motto is never give up, just keep on trying to find who you are looking for.

I was having afternoon tea (very civilized) with a friend and her mother, who were having a look at some old family photos that they had just had received and amongst them was one i recognised, not the people, but the railway jigger that they were posing on.
I have a matching one with my husbands relatives.
Turns out, after a bit of digging, that the matching photos were taken down the line (railway line that is) most likely in the 1940's and both families worked on the railway, lived down the road from one another and even went to school together (small world).

How is that for coincidence!!!!

But this is New Zealand im talking about (everyone knows everyone here)

Twenty years ago I inherited some photos from my great aunt, many of which were unidentified.

I was pleasantly surprised a couple of years ago to recognise one of the photos, which was of one of my great great grandfathers, from a different photo of him that was on another tree.

Very true!
My Canadian relatives have an old photo of my Great-Aunt in England. They always assumed she was in the garden of her home in Leeds. However, when I got to see this about 3 years ago I could tell them exactly where it was - our house in Birmingham! And she was sitting on my swing, cheeky ... !

Many years ago, my aunt and I were pondering over an old photo. I asked who it was & she turned it over & announced "It´s Charlie". We looked at each other & both said "who the hell was Charlie?".
Have just discovered that he was my g aunt´s brother in law who emigrated to Canada with my G aunt & Uncle.
It must be over 20 years since we found the photo.
Patience is a virtue ;-)
