	Do you mean the number that a birth, death or marriage is given on a register such as below (from FreeBMD) which you can use to purchase a certificate? It gives the volume and page number on the register Surname First name(s) District Vol Page Births Dec 1891 (>99%) Davies Robert Daniel Oswestry 6a 654

	Do you mean as part of a more recent birth registration for example:- District no: 0021D Reg no: D88A<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Ent no: 022 DOR: 199 These are the numbers necessary to order a certificate. The entry is slightly different from older birth registrations which have a volume number and page number. Kath. x

	That's a burial record. No, the number 187 is the entry number in the Parish Register of Burials, not the burial plot. As its not recorded, the church probably doesn't have a ledger recording who was buried where. Assuming the Church still exists, you could ask them if there is a headstone in situ. Many have been moved to the side of the graveyard to make it easier to maintain, or indeed, the plot reused. Reminder - more people 'didn't' have a headstone than those who did

	Don't get upset if there isn't one. If you go for a wander yourself, at least you'll have had a day out ;-) Make a note of any other Hyde headstones you find - they may fit in somewhere

	Thank you I will have a look for others I know a lot have gone at Christ Church from the 1900's so not holding out much chance of finding one from 1832 but who knows I might just get lucky Mary :-D
