Brilliant Helen! I just never thought to check this - and yes, after all that, it does just say New Cumnock. |

I'd be inclined to believe Sarah and Susan are one and the same person. |

That's very interesting Helen - it says Susan on the cert, but must be the right marriage surely? |

I hope this doesn't throw too much into the mix. I do think another birth cert is probably the way to go. |

If all else fails I might be tempted to get another birth cert if it were me - if you do this, I suggest Dorah: |

The birth certificate of another child of the marriage may be clearer regarding the place of marriage. |

The marriage place couldn't just be Kilmarnock could it? Doesn't look much like it though! |

Maybe there is a link after all? No idea if/how these people might be connected, however: |

I can't locate where they married either. I did have another look for the 'Purse' family and found these, but not helpful - and not even sure if the right name! |

James has had to go offline, but says Ann was said to be born in Annbank which he believes was in the Cumnock area of East Ayrshire in Scotland. |

There is this - Tarbolten is only 3 miles or so from Annbank. Can't see her anywhere else though and even if it's her it doesn't help! |

They married July 1st 1894. I shall write what the place looks like to me - no good with Scotland places but it might ring a bell!! |
