I am wondering where my mums side of the family were buried or cremated. They all lived in Glasgow City area 1860s -1960s. I found family graves through libindex in the Inverness area and wondered if there was a similar site for my family in Glasgow. Any help from the clever people on here would be appreciated.

From my experience with enquiries at several English cemeteries offices, they will probably require the deceased persons' full names and dates of death before they will search their records.
Also, they may charge for the search, and I have found this can vary between £30 and nothing at all!
Or you could ask if it is possible for you to go along to the office and search records yourself.

Try the above. There are masses of names on line and several Glasgow cemeteries listed.

Glasgow is under Lanarkshire.

If you have dates of death you can search at The Mitchell Library (free) in Glasgow. The hold internment records for most of the Glasgow Cemeteries. The exception being Craigton which was privately owned until a few years ago but now the City Council hold those records too.

The Mitchell has the following as well as others (I have looked at the Riddrie Park Cemetery records there although they are not listed here)

A comprehensive list of burial records for Glasgow can be found in "Burial Grounds in Glasgow: A Brief Guide for Genealogists" (Glasgow and West of Scotland Family History Society, 1997). The Family History Centre, on level 3 of the Mitchell, hold microfilm copies of burial registers still held by the Cemeteries and Crematoria department of Glasgow City Council.

The Archives holds lists of lairholders from 1870 for the following cemeteries:
Gorbals, Old Rutherglen Road
St Andrew's Episcopal Church, Greendyke Street
Anderson Old, Heddle Place
Calton, Abercromby Street
St Mark's Churchyard, Cheapside Street
North Street
Wellington Street Church Crypt
St Mary's Calton Roman Catholic Churchyard, Abercromby Street
Additional records are held by Archives for the following cemeteries:
St Andrew's Episcopal Church, burial register 1798-1972 (indexed)
Anderson Old, burial register 1840-92
Ramshorn Churchyard, Ingram Street, lairholders list 1849-63
Bridgeton, Tullis Street, lairholders list 1876
Glasgow Necropolis, Wishart Street, burial register 1832-date
Sighthill Cemetery, 225 Springburn Road, lairholders list 1841-68


If you are unsure of which cemeteries if you post dates and Addresses at time of death I am sure someone will be able to give you an idea of possible cemetries.
