Member Since: January 2003 Posts: 17 Send Message	Trying to find any family or descendents of Arthur Ernest CHAPMAN born abt 1875 in Cambridge. He was the son of Henry CHAPMAN, a college servant and Sophia BENDALL . Arthur seems to have married twice. Firstly to Edith Frances DAWES in 1901 registered Cambridge to whom he had 4 children, then to Mary Jane THOMPSON 1927 in Hampstead. Edith appears not to have died until 1961 so the second marriage was illegal. My daughter-in-law is descended from the second "marriage". Anyone know anything about this family Jennie in New Zealand

	Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above? If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection. Just delete the automated message about looking at the person's tree and type in your own saying who you are looking for.

	Firstly have you tried the Search Trees facility to see whether any other GR member has him in their family tree on GR? Secondly you state that his second marriage was illegal. Have you considered a divorce from his first wife might have taken place? Have seen/got a copy of his second marriage to see what his marital state was and to confirm that the name of his father is shown as the same as on his first marriage certificate? Member Since: January 2003 Posts: 17 Send Message	I've tried the Search Trees facility and written to the 3 possible contacts there but no luck so far. On his second marriage certificate he gives his status as "bachelor" which is why I'm assuming he left Edith rather than divorced her. I haven't seen his first marriage certificate. Might try that.
