S'ok Kath ....... it easily happens!!

I've tried looking for probate for both father and son, but nothing is showing up on ancestry.

I think buying the birth certificates for Kathleen b 1901 and Henry born 1900 is going to be the only way to be certain of mother's maiden name.

Then buy the marriage certificate for Georgina and William ............. that should give the full names of them both AND the names of the fathers.

they don't seem to have had the babies baptised ............... or at least, if they did, the parish registers have not yet been transcribed.

Sorry Sylvia,

Got so taken up with looking for the father that I completely forgot about the son and thought you were suggesting a death for the father.

2 different deaths I think Kath - father and son

William HGA b 1869 died 1951 Poole
Henry GJA b1899 died 1938 Sturminster

Thanks for looking at the 1911 original and seeing what had actually been written - got distracted and didn't look that far!

Kath

I posted what I think is the son's death, not father's ............. look at his age, and suggested birth date

I was trying all round the hills to find more on the parents, and came across that one.

???????????/

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2006 about Henry G J A Taylor

Name: Henry G J A Taylor
Birth Date: abt 1899
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1938
Age at Death: 39
Registration district: Sturminster
Inferred County: Dorset
Volume: 5a

This looks like the birth registration for Kathleen Maud's brother Henry

Births Jun 1899 (>99%)
Taylor Henry George JA St. Thomas 5b 45

and that, of course, is the same place where Kathleen Maud M was registered

Births Dec 1901 (>99%)
Taylor Kathleen Maud M St. Thomas 5b 46

The 1911 Census said both were born in Cowley, Devon. ......... ie, born in the same place.

St Thomas registration district does not include Cowley ................... but on the other hand, Kathleen Maud is not shown on the 1901 Census, where Henry is about 1 year old.

It is entirely possible that Maud dropped her 3rd name in later life!

I think Stuart has found him using his second name!!

I think the Henry Taylor on the 1911 census is the one we are looking for. He has been transcribed as age 29 but on the image he is actually 43. and married.

I think the transcriber has typed his name and then taken the rest of the details from the next person on the list. The person before him and the person after him are both aged 29 and visitors. However Henry is described as "servant", NOT a visitor.

It also states in the column for how many years married after Henry's name "15" which would be right for the marriage to Georgina (although this number is crossed out probably because it is only meant to be written in for females).

I wonder if William is on staff at Rushmore House in 1911 but not on census? There are plenty of housemaids, ladys maids, domestic staff etc but the Butler isn't mentioned.

There is a Henry Taylor aged 29 b 1882 Swanage, Dorset on the census in the house. He is Single, a Butler and described as a Visitor. A relative perhaps or just coincidence. (Swanage is where William HGA and family were in 1871. Not finding him on previous census though.

By 1881 the family are in Cullompton, Devon where father James Samuel was born - he is now a Gardener. William is not with the family. This is in Tiverton RD where William married Georgina
