Hi All, does anyone have access to marriage records for Manchester Cathedral. I am looking for some details , for the marriage of William Davenport and Elizabeth Harrison. I think the date was 23 Nov 1856.
Many Thanks Yvette

They could be on the IGI - which is FREE

Or on the FREE Lancs OPC site

If not on either, you'll need the County Records Office

Where did you get the date info?

Of course, full details will be on the cert................

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1856
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
DAVENPORT * William HARRISON Elizabeth Manchester Cathedral (formerly Manchester Collegiate Church) Manchester CATH/113/190

Thanks Reggie, I got the date from the mormon site, but I would like further details e.g fathers and witnesses. It is not on the Lancashire Parish Records, they stop a few years before.

The registers (or films therof) are available at Manchester public libarary
http://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/448/archives_and_local_studies/464/church_register_list/26

http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/ gives:
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1856
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
DAVENPORT William HARRISON Elizabeth Manchester Cathedral (formerly Manchester Collegiate Church) Manchester CATH/113/190
DEVANPORT William HARRISON Elizabeth Manchester Cathedral (formerly Manchester Collegiate Church) Manchester CATH/113/190
[Evidently, they had difficulty transcribing the local registrar's copy]

Knowing the local ref says you need to check entry # 190, which can be very useful info if you go to check the original registers.
