We have an American relative who used this method in order to compile Family Tree books (which they paid to have printed ) for Christmas presents.

These points are particularly relevant on here I think - I too love those 'brick walls'!

...if you think copying other trees constitutes research.

...if you think you can go back 10 generations in a matter of hours or even days.

...if your "brick wall" was built in a day.

...if you think everyone with the same surname is related.

...if you accept shaky leaf hints without question.

I spotted a tree this week where someone evidently never thought to question a shaky leaf.
Attached 5 different 1851 censuses to a single couple
Then did the same until 1901.... and has ended up with one couple and at least 40 kids born in various parts of the world!

I think half of Scotland is descended from James :-D
