I have been doing some research .I have one person who does not appear in my Hot Matches and yet searching the trees there are eight.matches. I shall use the trees now to check

Yes, that sounds about right.

First of all, HotMatches only checks a handful of your names each time it run - at the last count it was 50 at random - so it can take months if not years before all are even looked at.

Secondly - since about 18 months ago - HotMmatches are only reported if the place of birth as well as the name and date match too. This was, in many members opinion, a retrograde step as it appears to have resulted in many possible matches slipping through the net, but at the time it was a case of a handful of particularly vocal members having their say.

I find it more satisfying to do my own searching, especially those names added in the last two weeks as these are the members who are more likely to reply should you decide to contact them.

In total agreement. As far as I see Hot matches are about as much use as a chocolate Teapot

Nothing goes on my tree till I at least have one more source. I then like to get as many souces as possible
