It would be interesting to see the original document. A place name ending in –ria may be the Latin equivalent, as with Austria. This book would be worth browsing, though I did not come up with a solution.

Hello Ian.....I presume you have googled the word? I tried but got absolutely nowhere. Even if the place has now ceased to exist, it would still show somewhere.

Would you care to tell us the name of the family you are researching as it may give further clues we could work with. Cx

sorry about no please so PLEASE,if any one has any information on,where,laingaria.AUSTRIA IN 1847.might exist to day,after 2 world wars and many border changes.this is a place of birth stated on document.
