It depends on which site your using but here are a couple of tips

If your having problems then try searching using less don't be to specific with your info, often less is more

eg

John Smith born 1898 york

just enter John smith born 1898+/- 5 years Yorkshire

or swap the search criteria around, even leave year of birth or forename out on occasions and don't forget the name spelling may be different and they could also be mistranscribed

Roy

Edit, if that doesn't work then come back with who your looking for and i'm sure someone will have a look for you

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 22 Feb 2013 00:09

Name?

Parents' names?

Birthplace?

Birth year?

Which site are you using when searching?

EDIT

I see you mention only the mother..........so presumably he was illegitimate.

Check for a marriage for the mother..................and try looking under her married name if you find one

DazedConfused Report 22 Feb 2013 09:42

And never forget the dreaded mis-transcription!!!

Example - family name Sell - found under the following and other variations = Sell, Sall, Sale. Fell, Fall, Loll it was a nightmare :-D

But I got there in the end - perseverance.

Hi Mark,

If you'd like to put some info on here I am sure it won't be long before one of us takes it up and does some searching for you.
Sometimes you can look for something for so long that in the end you can't see the wood for the trees!! A fresh pair of eyes is maybe all that's needed :-D

My grandfather on his birth cert was given the name albert Edward Beesley, his mother was bertha Beesley and he was born on the 16 September 1902.his address was 66 St James street , Duddeston , Aston Warwickshire. We didn't know until he died that he had been adopted we knew him as Albert Edward Aldridge http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1319994# :-D

Thanks

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 22 Feb 2013 22:09

Have you looked for the adoptive parents?

He was probably taken in by them soon after his birth.......certainly before he was 9, I would have thought

Did the mother register the child's birth?

Only other Beeseleys born around that time in Warwickshire are:

Beeseley William Henry Aston 6d 279

Births Mar 1907
BEESELEY Harry Richard Aston 6d 234

Makes me think they are Alberts's brothers.

Oh bother says married 13 years on image but they might have lied about that

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 23 Feb 2013 00:18

I doubt they married? as for adoption their was no legal adoption at that time so i think the children registered in mmn just adopted dads name over time

The question asked by Reggie never got answered, was he illegitimate?

and what evidance do you have for an adoption?
