Looks like newfamilysearch didn't last long anyway??

"the first of several site enhancements for FamilySearch.org, and the replacement for new.familysearch.org. "

I cannot use the new family search but we can all use family search
without logging in.
https://www.familysearch.org/
As an example enter thomas renyard marriage southampton

Thomas Renyard
England, Marriages, 1538–1973
marriage 04 Jun 1846 Southampton, Hampshire, England
parentRenyardspouseElizabeth Ann Wilkins

Below the result you will see three family trees.

Search Results from User Submitted Genealogies
Thomas /Renyard/Thomas /Renyard/
MaryThomas /Renyard/Thomas /Renyard/
Mary /Reynard/Thomas /Renyard/THOMAS /Renyard/
Mary /Hill/

If you want the old IGI

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi

Many of the records are incorporated in the main site.
Edit
trees only

To Everyone Who Has Replied

I have used Family Search for past 8yrs & in the beginning was great! Found heaps of stuff............now not so.....
I miss IGI as well.............whats happened to that?

What i have noticed is using the 'normal' Family Search have noticed where on the Home Page says Discover Your Family History........Records Genealogies Catalog & Books
There was a heading that said 'TREES'
has anyone else noticed it's not there now. :-(

Sorry I misunderstood. That is the url for the old family search which works fine.

What is the advantage of using the new one rather than the old please?

BeverleyW

BeverleyW Report 24 Feb 2013 18:19

LancashireAnn - that is the 'normal' FamilySearch :)

I can't get in with my registration either despite being a long-term indexer. I would love to see what is new and different. Patience!

A couple of snippets about New Family Search

Starting in February 2011, the new FamilySearch website welcomes a few public users. More public users will be invited in the future.

General public. Look for a future announcement when you will have access to new.familysearch.org.•

Use of the system by the public is very limited. The account that you use for other FamilySearch websites might not yet be authorized to use the system.
(Mine didn't let me in)

lancashireAnn Report 24 Feb 2013 14:29

it can depend on exactly what you put in the url - there are various versions

have you used this one

https://familysearch.org/

just tried it and it is working fine for me

For the past few days, no matter what I ask to look for, I get a message "no records found".
This is rubbish because Familysearch is where I got the info from in the first place.

I have just sent them a message hope to hear from them soon.
As for visiting FS ....i have done a few years back...but the Church members have right of way first to any research regardless, so after a few visits gave up...............
As for the phone call.........i'll give that a miss i'm in Aust.

Thanks for your help

Just thinking aloud.

In light of BeverleyW thoughts, might you have to go to a FH centre to be able to access it?
I'd registered to be able to view a record set of familysearch, but still wasn't able to access them After a series of emails, they said that was what I had to do. (haven't bothered so don't know if that's correct)

There is a 'contact us' link on the home page for newfamilysearch which takes you here

https://www.familysearch.org/help/contact

They don't work Sundays.
From one of the emails

'If you feel you need to still speak to one of our technical support missionary you can call this 00-800-1830-1830. Our hours are Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Mountain Time, GMT-7). Please include your phone number in all e-mail correspondence.'

They assured me that the number given was freephone from this side of the Atlantic.

Thanks for that still no luck though........

I am pretty sure that at present you cannot get into Newfamilysearch unless you are a member of their church. It's not open to the public at large yet.

It's part of the Familysearch family
