A tree on Ancestry has him born in Sweden. The tree owner has used another tree as their source :-(

With no proper sources or records attached, it's a bit of a long shot!

Do you have his DC? Are parent's names listed on that?

No I do not have a death certificate at the moment but will see if I am able to find one.

Thanks

Thank you for the information.

Do you think it would be worth my while to get a death certificate ?

I have no idea where he came from or who his parents here.

I do remember as a child that my father ( he married one of his granddaughters ) that he was Jewish.

I have had a look around but found nothing.

Thanks again

If the information about what is included on the DC is correct, it wouldn't be worth purchasing it *just* to find out what his father's name was at it would probably be too early for that to be included. Mind you, the information given is only as good as the informant's knowledge. As he is a direct line ancestor, it might be satifying just to have a copy for your own research.

You mentioned that you believed he has Jewish.
Have you tried tracking down his place of burial, and the burial register? If he was buried in a Jewish Cemetery or section, there might (and I stress only might) be additional information on that.

One of my lot who emmigrated to Sydney and died 1913 have been recorded with their Hebrew names and that of their father eg

Jacob CANTOR
Hebrew Name - Yaacov ben Rav Joseph
'ben' being the son of, in this case the Honorable Jospeh (Cantor)

See if there is a Jewish Burial Society in Campbell Town district by doing an internet search, or look for on-line historical general cemeteries.

The closest Hebrew version I can find for 'John' is Johnny = Yochanan.
Someone else might have a better alternative.

Did he ever marry Ada Rebecca Remington?Even If you can track down the MC , that won't help.

Unless someone else can look at this with a fresh pair of eyes, his parents might be your brick wall! Really sorry

I have not been able to find a marriage certificate for them.

On Ada"s death certificate ( she remarried after Earle's death to a Carl Carlson )

On her death certificate it said she had three children.

2 living - 1 deceased

The two living was Richard and Albert ( my grandfather.)

( He took the Carlson surname as he was only a babe when Earle died but on his marriage certificate it says he was Earle known as Carlson.

The third one I have been unable to find.

I have now found the the third boy who would have been the eldest.

His father was John Branaghan - and he died when he was 6 before she meet Earl
