Hi does anyone know of a free mililtary site for WW1 and WW2 also were records kept for the Boar War, were men subscripted?

WW1 records are on Ancestry but 70% were lost during WW2

The Boer War was an all-volunteer force.

Conscription was in effect 1916-1919, with the last conscriptee released in 1920.

Conscription was in effect 1939-1960, with the last conscriptee released in 1963.
During WW2, women were liable for conscription. Not all conscriptees were put into the armed services - 10% of males were forced to work in coal mines, with the last of these released in 1948.

You can find records for men who served in the Boer War on the FindmyPast website

It must be pointed out that only the serviceman/woman or his/her proven next of kin can apply for WW2 records, and that they cost £30.00, unless the applicant is the person whose records they are, or his/her widow/er.
