Does anyone know if the date of birth will be on the death certificate in 1906? If so could I view the death cert at the reg office for free?

If this is England, No the date of birth was not added until 1969.

You cannot view certificates free, but the index will show age at death, as given by the informant.
NB......This is not always correct age, even when informant is a close relative.

If you like to post some details of what you are looking for, members will do their best to help.

To put it bluntly. In England and Wales

No and No

The certificate will have the age at death, as known to the informant. I think the dob was included about 1965 [edit - Gwyn says 1969]

You can only view the details of a death certificate by purchasing it - either at the issuing Register Office, or from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Did he marry.... If so what was his father's name and occupation ?

Do you have John on any census ...Where?

Although his birth should have been registered, it is possible that it wasn't, but a few clues might lead to a baptism which might show a birth date.

As it wasn't compulsary to register births until the 1870's, his parents may not have bothered.

He was a herbalist. If Joseph Pink is his half brother then his mum is called Mary. I think his dad was called John. Mary Holt married Spencer and he died she then married George Pink and he died. Then she had John Dunn but I cant find a marriage to johns dad.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 5 Apr 2013 19:17

yes I don't know why he is their grandson. It would mean that Pink married Ingram and had Joseph. I sent away for Joseph Pinks birth cert and it gave his dad as George Pink

I wonder if Thomas and Margaret Holt on the 1861 census are related to them.
