This was posted by Estelle on 20 Dec.2012:

"Hi everyone,

as Rachel has already said in her email, we are slowly moving everyone over to the same renewal price. For those of you on a standard subscription, this is £14.95 for 6 months and £19.95 for 12 months. If you renew before the renewal date then there is a 20% discount on the cost of your renewal. Elizabeth - this is why your is £15.96, as that's the annual price less a 20% discount.

As normally happens, we will email you before your renewal date to confirm the cost of it.

If you do have any further questions then please contact our customer support team.

Kind regards,

Estelle"

As a result I was expecting an increase when my subscription came due in May 2013 but was pleasantly surprised when I was charged 6 pounds for the full year. I know I shouldn't complain but it's so unfair to others. Such a vast difference in pricing!

Hi Shelly

Please will you explain in plain English the reasons for the difference in price paid by a standard member who has been with GR for more than ten years and is on continuous membership paying £15.96 per annum and a similar member with only four years membership who is paying only £7.96

I would appreciate it if you do not insult my intelligence by glossing over or evading this problem and that you do actually address and answer my query truthfully giving a full explanation.

In your view is this difference in price between members given the exact same service fair?

This message is also posted on General Chat in the hopes that you will see and answer one of them.

Hi Everyone,

There have been changes to the team recently. Estelle is still involved with Genes Reunited.

Had not spotted that Ken

Sitemap just shows a blank page with search for the census etc on the right hand side so that is a waste of time

I notice that Meet The Team has recently disappeared from the bottom of the web pages.

"We've asked Tony to refrain from promoting his tree printing service on the boards but as My history are our official tree printing partners we will promote his services elsewhere on the site."

we will promote his services elsewhere on the site.

----------------------

That is exactly the phrase that I noted, Joy!

"we will promote his services elsewhere on the site."

That statement, made by GR themselves, indicates that the services will be promoted ELSEWHERE on the site OTHER than the Boards.

Could it be that my problem is that I am a trained Editor, and understand what words mean? :-) :-)

This might explain it:

"For tree printing, we also work with a partner who offer a 10% discount to Genes Reunited customers"

A PARTNER???

So you're saying that Myhistory is a partner of Genes Reunited? In what way?

Community Manager Advisor Report 3 Dec 2013 10:34

Hi SylviaInCanada,

MyHistory were asked not to promote themselves on the boards, only Genes Reunited were permitted to promote services on the website.

I'm sorry, Shelley, but I still think it's wrong, wrong, wrong for Genes Reunited to be promoting a private company at the expense of other companies who do the same kind of work, one of which, I am told, does exceptionally good work.

GR advised me in an email:

"We've asked Tony to refrain from promoting his tree printing service on the boards but as My history are our official tree printing partners we will promote his services elsewhere on the site."

does this mean that only Tony will refrain from promoting his services on the Boards

OR that GR will only promote his services "ELSEWHERE ON THE SITE"

In my opinion, that message means the latter ............. and that Shelly is wrong in the way she has been promoting his services.

This is actually at least the second place where I have seen her promoting Tony's services AND providing the link.

The other is on Suggestions Tree

Genes Advisor Report 2 Dec 2013 11:55

Hi Barry,

We take all suggestions on board. It's great to get feedback from the users, comments are passed on to the tech team.

For tree printing, we also work with a partner who offer a 10% discount to Genes Reunited customers:

it was agreed, I thought that the MyHistory would NOT be promoted on the General Boards

Are you are breaking the guidelines that we are supposed to abide by?

Specifically ..................

Did GR speak to the company run by 2 long-time GR members, who have done sterling work for other members, who have had stalls at WDYTYA for years, but who never promote themselves on here?

Community Manager Advisor Report 2 Dec 2013 14:40

Hi Margee,

Members had asked about tree printing services, which is why we recommend this service. We spoke to many companies, but MyHistory could offer the best discount for Genes Reunited members.

You didn't answer my question, Shelley. Why choose to promote this one and not the others? It would be better not to promote any private company.

Have the other printing company been told about the GR decision to plug this one company over them ?

Hi Margee,

We are happy for members to use their preferred tree printing service. We spoke to various companies regarding tree printing and felt that MyHistory was a good fit with Genes Reunited, offering a great service and personal touch.

Hi Margee,

MyHistory is a company we have worked with before, and provide an excellent service which is why we are happy to promote them.
