Have I now GOT to register to use the new Familysearch records - I've never done that in the past?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 18 Apr 2013 15:15

No. Just used it without having to register.

Thanks GB - just had another go and got into it via Family Records.
It is just more confusing. The new site seems to want you to find connections. The records search has a lower priority now.

Oh no....they have changed it completely.

Patience is a virtue ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Just go in to familysearch.org as normal and select search. That should give you the familiar search screen

About a year ago, before the latest new look, I found that I could search without any bother, but, sometimes, if I wanted to see the original images, I had to register - of course, I did - I've seen enough stuffed up transcriptions to know I should check the image whenever I can - I don't recall if this was UK images, or just US ones.

I had a problem a while ago, where it said I had to register to view an image. Even after doing so, I still couldn't. This was for Kent workhouse records which weren't indexed.

After several emails to their support in Utah, it transpired that some records could only be viewed on line from one of their family history centres, where you 'had' to sign in.

I had trouble too and got the update your browser. My oh said mine was fine.

The problem I have is if I put a name in I don't get any box to type details in but found if I clicked on the box twice I could type in there.

The problem I have now is I can't copy and paste from Ancestry to GR without it coming up all spaced out. I have tried refreshing the pages on both sites with no luck. Have Ancestry changed soemthing too?? It was alright the day before yesterday when I was helping someone but not yesterday or today.

Mel - are you using Internet Explorer (possibly v8)?

If so, then clicking the compatibility icon (looks like a ripped page next to the internet address) on all pages so that it's blue might help the spacing out problem. Or download a more up to date version, or try Google Chrome or Firefox.

(If you've done all that then I'm stumped!)

LadyScozz Report 21 Apr 2013 03:48

If I search for census records in US I get the whole family.

If I search in UK I get one person at a time, no way of knowing who is a member of a family.

Frustrating!
