Do you have your tree on a programme on your computer such as Family Tree Maker ?

Do you usually put your tree on GR using a GEDCOM?

You must never discount either a transposition of names or a slightly different name

I spent years looking for a birth for my g/g/gaunt Ellen - she was Ellen on all census returns and even on her marriage she is shown as Ellen. It only when I finally decided to order the only possible birth certificate for the right area/age etc. that I finally found out she was in fact named Eleanor. Even on her death certificate she was shown as Ellen.

And I have more than one instance of a child being named ie Mary Jane and then shown as Jane Mary for the rest of her life. So commonplace a situation in many families.

Sally

If you have sight problems then you are doing very well with your research and using this site.

You just have to ignore me at times as I sometimes feel I am wasting my time asking questions and not getting any answer.

Good luck,

Maureen

Hello Sally, it's a very very common occurrence for first names to be transposed - it happens all the time. Don't be too quick to dismiss a record because the names are the other way around.

On the 1891 census the father George was born Derbyshire and worked on the railways, the mother Elizabeth was born Ardley. On the 1901 census, where her names are the other way round, the father George was born Derbyshire and worked on the railways, her mother is Elizabeth born Ardleigh.

It definitely IS the same family, and it IS her and that IS her marriage!

As at the 1911 census, Elizabeth had given birth to 11 children and 2 had died leaving 9 alive. 8 of those children are accounted for on the 1911 census - the other one not there is Emily Beatrice (Beatrice Emily) who was by that time married.

I give up !!!!

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 29 Apr 2013 16:34

So what if it is not showing then post it again

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 29 Apr 2013 16:33

So the family I posted for 1901 and 1911 must be wrong as the 1911 states 11 children born and 9 still alive

You had better post the correct ones for 1891,1901 and 1911

Sally

Sally Report 29 Apr 2013 16:33

I have replyed it is not showing

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 29 Apr 2013 16:25

So I ask again where do you think Emily Beatrice was born as no birth registered in that name

What evidence do you have of an early death for her?

Is the 1901 and 1911 census the wrong family then ?

What about that marriage?

You have given no feedback to any info posted or questions asked

Sally

Sally Report 29 Apr 2013 16:23

they are two people
Beatrice e was born childs hill Hendon the rest rest born 9 midland 14 children in all

thankyou sally w <3

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 29 Apr 2013 16:02

Where do you think that Emily Beatrice Purdy was born ?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 29 Apr 2013 15:58

The marriage cert gives her address as 9 Midland Terrace.

Are there two then one Beatrice Emily and the other Emily Beatrice both born in Hendon ?
