MarieCeleste,

I often go through FS looking for information on my Flitter (Fritter and various other versions) family. I know that in the early 1760's James Fritter married Martha ? but that is as far as I can go.

From the mid 1760's they appear in Thatcham, Berkshire but I can't get back any further, but I suppose I am lucky to have got that far back.

'Fru' was included towards the end of the "Finds" in my search.

Could be a relative of this chap:

London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965

Name: Clapton Fruiterer
Year: 1875
County or Borough: London
Ward or Division/Constituency: St John at Hackney

It's actually the premises of Mr Jenkins, fruiterer, Clapton

I had to have a look at the original of that, it's actually number 4 The Bartholomews, Brighton and the original image shows the premises as a wholesale fruiterers.

I think the transcribers should have ignored it but must have decided on an arbitrary age.

Pam, have to ask what you were looking for to find that!
