I replied on that thread and I really do not care whether or not it is acknowledged. I posted the information in good faith and it was my choice to do so.

Don't get me wrong feedback as to whether or not the poster found the information useful is always good as it helps to know whether or not to pass the same information on again.

I accepted a long time ago that not everyone is appreciative of the help given on the boards.

The thing is Kay.........when you delete a post, it makes the other posts look????

Maybe you could have left it there and explained? Then it would make Jax' post make sense?

Kay????

There seems to be two or three threads which are all by the OP and say very much the same but totally oposite!!!

FB quote - Very apt for this thread

Two thoughts:
1. Never be bullied into silence.
And
2. Do not be bullied out of your common sense by the specialist; two to one he is a pedant.

NS, FB, very apt for this YOUR thread

Your thoughts, or should I say famous quotes do not fit at all with your OP or the thread title in fact this thread is seeking to do exactly the opposite of what those quotes actualy mean

I see that a thread started over 24 hours ago by the OP asking for help with SA records has not been returned to....wonder if that is because the three people who replied with advice, were members she does not want replying on her threads?

Or is she just downright rude?

A thread started by the OP back in May caused a lot of disageement between members.

When you look at it now it has been edited to remove the offending comments.

It was suggested by the Team to the OP to add an apology but this has not happened.

Shame that the OP put on one thread something about Freedom of Speech not needing an apology.

When the OP realises that sometimes she upsets members and offers an apology at the time then she would have no need to post this thread.

Thank you Jonesey

As a regular contributor to this site I can verify much of what you have said. I have no idea who any of the people are who I have contact with. I never 'hover' over the name of posters to see who they are or how long they have been members.

I know that there are posters on here from all over the world only because of them mentioning where they live.

So I will post on many threads that other regulars will also appear on.

:-)

Peter,

That is quite a statement that you have made, accusing certain members of GR of gang like activities to victimise and harass posters.

The "Accused" are indeed amongst the most active GR members on the message boards. Each spends a great deal of their time looking at MOST posts/threads that appear and respond to them if they are able to provide an answer to a question or offer advice how to obtain an answer. Equally if they see a thread that they feel is inappropriate or inflammatory they are likely to comment on that also. Consequently it is not surprising that you often see more than one of them appearing together on a particular thread, that does not however mean that they are acting mob handed, merely that they have advice to offer or share a similar view.

I know most of the members who I suspect you have included in your list of names who victimise and harass. I do not know them personally, only through their posts on these boards which I spot on lots of threads. If you take a look at any page of the "Genealogy Chat" or "Find Ancestors" boards I am fairly confident that you are likely to find that more than one and often several of the "Names" will appear together on a single thread of ALL types. I have never seen or heard any evidence that they collude with one another with the intention of causing distress to any other GR member.

One thing that I do agree with you on is that on this particular thread NS has not up until now said anything to cause others to be unpleasant. Unfortunately that has not always been the case on some of her other threads. May be that is why her threads attract the attention they do. Remember that flies are not only attracted to jam.

Perhaps after fully examining the evidence you may wish to consider withdrawing your accusation.

Can I post!!!???

What a silly carry on ....again

We are here to post on threads if you dont like peeps posting on your thread
1 go away
2 Pm them
3 dont make a thread
4 make a list of peeps you dont want posting on your thread and we will ignore

The WWW gives us all the chance to use the net in the way we decide ......in the right way or wrong way is up to us!!!

Of course there is one very simple explanation for the same names appearing on threads, whether they are contentious threads or 'normal' threads...

and that is just because those members have been here a long time! ( they were here helping when I joined ) they are the helpers who spend long hours on almost every query thread, every search for relatives, they have expertise and patience and a willingness to help others.

Rambling Report 1 Jun 2013 11:40

JustGillian, the search facility is not the best for finding old threads unless you have a specific search term as well as the name, and know which board it was on.

I have had a look and I don't think that thread is still on the boards, though other more recent threads by the same poster are.

It is always worth trying putting the poster's name in the 'keywords' and 'author' box. But even that is very hit and miss.

JustGillian Report 1 Jun 2013 11:13

Sorry, this probably isn't the right board for this query but, as it is prompted by this thread .....

As a frequent reader but rare poster, I was so shocked by the sweeping accusation made by the poster at 9.25 this morning (Peter, was it?) that most posters on this thread are guilty of always gathering together to victimise other members, including the disabled and himself, that I tried to find the other threads to which he was referring, especially as the implication was that they were relatively numerous.

Am I right in thinking that there is no facility on GR to find All Posts/All Threads Started by specific members? If that is the case, is there a way of sorting general search results by date order? Thank you.

Peter, with ref to the person you mention, whilst it is laudable that you were concerned, it was not easy to know beforehand that said person's attitude and responses were because of a specific condition he seemed just a rather aggressive and rude poster as he had been on other sites. However by the end of the searches he seemed more able to respond without anger and was happy with the help provided I believe .

I hope you also have some sympathy for the people wrongly reported in that event, who were only trying to help, and also I hope you have the same level of concern for the elderly 'relative' who was being sought, who was only 'related' by a marriage, did not know the poster from Adam, and whose address details were being handed out willy nilly ...I believe someone even gave out a phone number FGS.

I hope you also have sympathy for the people NS has upset deeply and to whom she has offered NO apology , just 'more of the same'.
