I am quite happy... I am safe in the knowledge that I am not part of a "most" ... in fact I am wondering who is... how many does it take to make a "most"?

Thank you Porkie for the PM you sent me, still totally befuddled but do not worry that is a constant state for me!!!

Gee Report 1 Jun 2013 09:59

Cripes Peter, that's a little inflammatory, I thought people were discussing the OP!

NS, I guess anyone wanting certain members to 'not' post on their thread could either:

a) Not start lots of threads

b) Make (post) a list of people they would rather not have post on their threads

Can't see either option working though, we don't live in Stalin's Russia...thank goodness :-)

Peter,

I take exception to being accused of victimising anyone. I have never done so either on my last membership or this one. I am not victimising NanaSue. I am responding to her threads with an opinion which, in the main, is not in agreement with hers.

I am not running with the crowd either, the opinions I express are my own. Some will agree with me, some will not but only by having a discussion can issues be resolved and hopefully things move on.

This is the first time we have spoken but I do hope that when we speak next time it will be under better circumstances.

If you do not wish to have posts added to your thread(s)...refrain from starting them.....simples!

Penny

Penny Report 1 Jun 2013 06:40

You want the 'ignore' function function nana Sue.
you have the option of ignoring one, a few or all
Top right.

SylviaInCanada Report 1 Jun 2013 01:54

nope!!

it would actually be better on General Chat ..........................

and GR did once state that they would move threads to the more appropriate Board ...............

............... but there'll be no-one in the office with the ability to do that ............. not until Monday 8:30 am, anyway :-D

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 31 May 2013 23:14

Is there actually a Genealogy point on this thread ?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2013 22:18

I would also like to see NS return to this thread, and respond to the concerns expressed by other members.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2013 22:17

This suggestion smells very strongly of censorship, denial of the Freedom of Speech, dictatorship, and disapproval of anyone else's opinion when that differs from "you" (in the generic sense)

I thought we lived in a democracy???

I doubt very much that GR would go to that extreme.

These are Community Boards, and no-one can be forbidden from posting on any thread that they like.

If you want to have a purely private thread and discussion only with like-minded people and friends, then you have to set up your own site on FB, or on the internet.

I do know that people who have been in conflict with someone else are asked if they could not please come to an agreement about civilized behaviour.

I have heard that some people have been asked to apologize to someone else who has been offended by a posting

I do know of people who have received a ban for a longer or shorter time because they refused to stop posting incendiary remarks.

I also know of people who have received a ban because they responded to the instigator, and the instigator managed to turn the misdeed around, claim innocence and victimisation, and get his/her victim removed.

Cynthia and Jonesey have both offered very reasonable and reasoned solutions.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 31 May 2013 21:13

"Where there is conflict has GR ever asked a member to remove all their posts refering to a member or stop posting on another members threads or writing any thing about them."

NS,

It occurs to me that as phrased, only GR, not its any of its members, could possibly answer your question for you.

May I respectfully suggest that you ask someone in authority at GR if they can provide you with an answer to your question.

Porkie - I fail to see what my comments on the Jeremy Kyle show have to do with this post...

Would be interesting though if NS would deign to respond on here

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 31 May 2013 18:13

If a thread becomes contentious and the OP is not happy, they can always delete it and move on.

The best way to avoid any conflict on the Community Boards, is not to post something which may be controversial.

The second best way to avoid conflict on the Community Boards, is not to become involved.

Well said Porkie

Lots more could be said - but I will now tie my hands behind my back.....

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 31 May 2013 14:06

Kay, OK but NS has started this thread asking that question,

NS has also said on various threads that some members should not be allowed to post on her threads, and tried to close threads to stop members posting and she has also RR'd posts for the same reason

Assumption I think not.

Roy

Kay????
