I don't see the point of listing what is available on GR without posting where that info can be found,

The info listed above is in the list on the left of the page when you go to the search tab and select births

Can you work out NanaSue,how to search for a birth with mother's maiden name AND restricting the search to a specific county?

jax

jax Report 10 Jun 2013 22:50

Is this included in the platinum sub or is it extra?

Renes

Renes Report 10 Jun 2013 23:23

Rose

I just clicked advance search and ·"County" box shows -----

Jax

I think it is an extra -----------

EDIT -------- a correction to Jax ----- they are "extras" ... found on the ADD FEATURE button ....

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jun 2013 00:29

How much does an "extra feature" cost, over and above the Platinum subscription?

also ................

How do the Baptisms compare with those available for free on familysearch?

GenealogyResearchAssistance Report 11 Jun 2013 07:54

I suspect the records offered as an add on here are the same records available on a full subscription level at FMP. I'll stick with FMP

Penny

Penny Report 11 Jun 2013 08:11

How much do these records cost?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 11 Jun 2013 08:51

NanaSue,

There are also Baptisms freely available on many OPC sites, so it's well worth checking before buying any credits.

For example, I see that you have listed the Medway area which interests me greatly.

However, I have been using the Medway City Ark site for years and have taken part of my family back to the 1600's thanks to them. I find it utterly fascinating to see actual copies of the various registers.

It is also free to use.

Genes Extras.have nothing to do with any updated records that are now avaliable on site.

they are GR all level members subscribers deals on,

Take out WDYTYA 6 issues for £6.

Take wine offer and save when you spend over £54 on selected wines,

Save 30% on books,

and also running is a competition to win a years supply of novels....

Only avaliable to UK subscribers.

jax

jax Report 11 Jun 2013 17:32

What has Genes extras got to do with this thread?

If you have a platinum subscription it does NOT cover everything that GR have to offer

I would like to know if these baptisms are included in the platinum sub or do you have to Pay extra

jax

jax Report 11 Jun 2013 17:38

Then it looks to me that no one seems to know the answer, as finding out the prices of anything on this site is no different than it was before

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jun 2013 17:44

Kay???

your post is a non-sequitor ...... perhaps due to your misunderstanding of "extra"

We all know what Genes Extra is ................... a perk for UK-only subscribers, showing discrimination against all overseas subscribers.

I don't think anyone on this thread has mentioned Genes Extra in connection with the new Baptism or other collection

We are wondering if the bmd collections are extras that have to be paid for or whether they are included in the Platinum subscription.

The general consensus appears to be that a number of the new records are in fact "extras" in the sense that they are not included in the current cost of a Platinum subscription, and therefore credits have to be bought by all members in order to be able to see them.

and we are wondering how much those credits will cost.

"Take your search further by exploring our databases of historical records. Platinum subscription offers the same features as our Standard option, as well as unlimited access to:
All census records
All birth, marriage and death records
WW1 and WW2 death records
Platinum subscribers can also choose to add other niche record sets (such as Parish records) to their subscription."

so presumably that means buying credits, as the platinum sub does not include the 50 free ? So that's an extra £17.95 for 200 credits or £5 for 50.

Kay???? Report 11 Jun 2013 17:54

All new PR records of Banns Baptism etc,,

Pay per view------£5 -50 credits,lasts 30 days,
Pay per view -----£17-95 credits lasts for 90 days,

each record of above costs 5 credits,

Platiumn subcribers can have add -ons to their subs to view all new records,,,,,,
@ £6-67 per month taken as a full years payment,,,so upping Platiumn to £159+ per year.

or Platuimn can opt for 6 months add on.

or a standard member can pay perview as needed or opt to upgrade to Platiumn.....but all PR will come at at extra cost.

Its in FAQ if one delves,,,,,,,,nothing has really changed just new records added if anyone wants them.

Rambling

Rambling Report 11 Jun 2013 18:04

I found that I had 50 free credits, I've used 10 just on the offchance it was something I didn't have, it wasn't. A baptism on the Thames & medway costs 10 credits.

I was also fairly appalled yesterday that whilst a transcription of the 1881 is free, it costs 5 credits if you want to view other household members and that births ( 1884 was the one I looked at so on Freebmd) do not show the cert numbers. Not very helpful to new members who do not realise they need the cert numbers to order. IMO.

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 11 Jun 2013 18:10

Have things changed? I thought the 1881 census was free to view.

Rambling

Rambling Report 11 Jun 2013 18:15

namelessone I am just a standard member, so don't know if there has been a change?

I can for eg see

1881 England, Wales & Scotland Census
First Name THOMAS
Last Name FISHLOCK
Birth Year 1859
Age 22
Birth Place
Birth Town ORCHEST ST MARY
Birth County WILTSHIRE
Relationship To Head of Household SERVANT
Gender M
Occupation FOOTMAN DOM SERV
Condition SINGLE
Street QUEENS GATE PLACE
Parish KENSINGTON

but to see other household members it would be 5 credits and to see the image 5 credits.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jun 2013 18:30

yet the 1881 Census is view to see on other sites, even including ancestry!
