Hi mgnv & MarieCeleste,

Many thanks for your brilliant detective work, it's very much appreciated. I've taken notes of everything you have found, Sarah Shomberg or Thornburg & Mary Yeo are the sisters of Bessie Baker re my other thread.

Thanks again girls, and I'm sending you both 'good luck' wishes in your own research.

Regards Lou <3

Re the 1900 - Name: Sarah Shomberg [Sarah Thornburg]

I can't completely make out the surname - just Sh*berg - check out Sybil Jones, daughter 14 lines later - there's a close match with the "S" and the "er" in both entries.

Suppose May Shomberg had married Mr Thornburg (and become May Shomberg Thornburg in a typical American naming pattern). An Ancestry member researching her Thornburg's could have renamed May as Thornburg, and either ticked or left ticked the box that applies this change throughout the h/h. [Just hypothesizing here - it used to be plausible, but I no longer have an Ancestry sub, so don't know how plausible it is now, but then neither do I know the date of "correction".]

Hi MarieCeleste and mgnv

So sorry not to have been in touch before to thank you for your fantastic help again, but not had the chance to log in until now.

Thanks so much for the marriages MarieCeleste. I'm still not sure which one is her's. Had hoped they would give me her father's name, or shed some light on why they would be classed as an orphan marriage when they are adults! But they might just help me further down the line.

MarieCelest that is my Shomberg's so the info relating to the name is very useful and could be the reason why I can't find them after 1900 census. So that's a huge help - Thanks

mgnv

Once again you've come up trumps. It has opened my eyes to finding more information plus images that I didn't realise you could do, so a big thank you to you too.

Thanks again to you both, and I'd like to wish you both success in your own research. Your help has been much appreciated.

Regards Lou :-) <3

Yes I think it is Jonesey, but I have no clue as to who she married. I've tried searching her other siblings to see if she's living with them, but so far have only found two. The Mary mentioned above and Sarah.

Sarah was on the 1900 Census and that's where I found Mary.

They are Sarah Shomberg b 1870 England
Heary Shomberg hubby b 1867 Penn and their children
John, William, May, Edmond and Harry b 1899 all Penn born.

Living with Mary Yeos and Charles Yeo

I cannot find the Shombergs family after 1900 either

Jonesey Report 20 Jun 2013 09:48

It does not look as if your Bessie is one of the 6 Bessie Baker options in the 1910 census. It is of course possible that she was married with a different surname by then.

Hi Jonesey,

That's Brilliant and has now proved he is the brother of Mary. I wondered what happened to him as both parents had passed away.

His sister is Bessie, she was born Aug 1886 and was just 17 when her father passed away in 1903. She is on the 1900 Census with father Cornelius Baker b 1850 England and brother Edward

Hi All, I was hoping that some kind soul whose a member of either site, could look up someone for me please. I've found there details on LDS site but I can't access the image because I'm not a member. It also states that the image is available of Ancestry.com

They are;

Charles Yeos b 1874 Pennsylvania head
Mary Yeos b 1875 Wales
Edward Bake b 1884 Pennsylvania
Living in Ward 16 Allegheny, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I want to know Charles' occupation, and all information relating to Edward. I am also looking for a Bessie Baker b 1886 Pennsylvania.

Regards Lou
