Can anyone tell me as then this was part of Essex and whether the parish records for this period are held by Essex or Herts.
Await comments.

Michael.

I wonder if you mean Hadham?

Hertsonline has the following:

Thomas GROUT m. Agnes Parrat in LITTLE HADHAM on 11th February 1581
Richard GROUT m. Margaret Blackwell in Bushey on 20th July 1584
Thomas Hutchin . m. Ruth GROUT in MUCH HADHAM on 8th September 1656

There are also other Grout marriages, suggests Hertfordshire holds the records.

Registers are at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies.

According to Phillimore's Atlas the registers for both Little and Much Hadham start in 1559.

Thanks everyone,
Do you know if the site is free or do i have to pay to view.
Better still,if someone was available to visit the records office and check out the early parish records for me as i live in the Cotswolds and a long way to travel at my age, being retired.
Regards.
Michael.
