I'm trying to find my husbands birth father, he was adopted in 1971 at 6 weeks old in stetford manchester, we've found his birth mum but she did'nt want to speak about his father, but her sister was willing to give us information about him. His name is Ronnie he was born in manchester 1943-45ish surname possibly brocklehurst brocklebank brockle or brockleby, he work in the trafford park area as a steel fixer in the late 60s early 70s. We found his mother through genes reunited, we're hoping to find his dad on here too. Anyone who can help please do get in touch.

Many thanks
Paula

Yes I do I posted it a while back :-)

It would be better to add to the original thread and alter the heading to say something like 'new query'.
This is a knotty problem and it would prevent people going over old ground.

Well, that was unfortunate.
You need to put ALL the findings from that thread onto here to save people repeating what has already been suggested.
Did you ever try out my suggestion about looking at the electoral register?

Tried it all Jan but getting nothing, if his birth mother was a little bit forthcoming maybe we would get somewhere, but we'll keep trying. :-)

You can search for free on most sites.
Ancestry,for example:-

The surname can't be Brockle. Doesn't exist on the electoral register and the last person born with that surname was in 1888.

Does your husband have his adoption papers?

Has he added himself to the national adoption contact register?

The mother undoubtedly has painful memories of her experience, which makes her reticence understandable.
