Hi Folks.
I have had an email re. above - lasts till 2nd July I think.
This posting is by way of both info and a plea for help!
As I normally have only a UK sub, I cannot see a way to attach these records to anybody on my tree. I have used similar offers before, and just opened as a new member, and them emailed records to myself!
But ideally I would have liked to access the records with my usual account so I can attach them.
Does any clever person know if/how this is possible please?
Many thanks
Jan

Hi Brummiejan,

There is a sneaky way to do this.
If you recall, when you send an invite, you can make your invitee "editor"

Send an invite to your Canadian Freebie username from your UK acct, making your "Invitee" an editor.

From your "Canadian" freebie acct, access the tree that you are now an editor of... and you can update.

Easy to do.... but crazy to explain.

Alternative option:

Export a gedcom from your UK tree.
Upload it to your Freebie acct.
Update the freebie with Canadian records.
When done, export the updated gedcom and re upload as your UK one

Thank you Anne.
I shall have a go at the first option - brilliant tip, thanks!

I am Editor to the tree of a friend who has a Basic UK Sub.
As I have a WW sub, I can ( and do) update hers with overseas records from my acct.

Therefore, theoretically, option1 should work!

I have a free tree on Ancestry.
As far as I can tell the Canadian records are also free on .co.uk
So no need to log into both sites.
Edit
I logged into the Canadian site with my UK username and password and there are the free records and my UK tree.

They're free until 5am Wed UK time.

However, of the censuses, only 1871 is free on Ancestry.
1871 (thru 1916) is free anyways (but not tree-linkable) via:
