People do manage to get back further Claire, not that I have lol, but it means looking into parish records, some are online but not all. So it may involve finding out where parish records are held for that location and going to search through them.

As Kemp has said, we all use various sites, some of us prefer the search format on one site or the other.

GR is particularly good for finding other people who may be researching the same people as you ( for finding distant cousins for example)

Freebmd is excellent, everyone should learn to use it for BMDs between 1837 to around 40's/50's.

FamilySearch.org is also helpful and free.

KempinaPartyhat Report 30 Jun 2013 22:32

Each of the sites gives a different lay out

we google EVERYTHING which you know coz of the murder of Archie

the best thing to do is add a tree on here ...So at the top of the page FAMILY TREE .click on it and go to my tree then make one You can then see who is whos child and mum and dad
