MarieCeleste Report 5 Jul 2013 21:31

Just looked up those addresses on the 1911.

35 Devon Street was a private house (then occupied by the Snowden family).

Residential properties in Manvers Street only go up to no 124. Listed after that are three properties categorised as buildings not used as dwellings - a blacksmiths, an engineers shop and a waste merchants.

So it does seem likely that he lived at 35 Devon and conducted business at Manvers Street.

Graham Report 5 Jul 2013 20:28

Could those 2 addresses be next to each other on a street corner?

Thelma Report 5 Jul 2013 16:08

Look at the street directory. He is listed at both addresses as "marine store dealer".
Could be two shops or one shop and a house.

GlitterBaby Report 5 Jul 2013 12:28

Okay checked the later directory and Arthur Leatherland is listed at Devon St but is it the same person ?

GlitterBaby Report 5 Jul 2013 12:24

Does not show that way on 1913-14 directory

Have you been able to find an old map
