my great grandad oswald turner born in 1883 was put on the boat the cornwall apparently this was a reform ship how can i find records that he was there how can i find the jobs my ancestors did thank you

Amongst the Reformatory ships were........the Cornwall on the Thames at Purfleet

What record have you found to know that he was there? As Purfleet is in Essex, the Essex Archive (SEAX) might be the place to start for records. Failing that the Archives more closely associated with his family home

Where was Oswald born so that we can look for him on census? There may be a newspaper article about him on this site or the Bristish Newspaper Archive.

How do you know what jobs your Ancestors did?
Look for them on census, purchase all the BMD you can afford.
Look for baptism and burial records.

Depending on the area, you'll probably find an awful lot of labourers or Agricultural Labourers.

Occupations are recorded on censuses.......and on marriage certs, and children's birth certs

Susan doesn't appear to have put her tree on GR, so no clues about birth location

hi thank you for all your help all i know is i found the cornwall training ship ADM188 seamens service record it came uop with oswald owen/turner age 25 crt date 12 jan 1909 it says oswald was on this ship thank you for all those kind enough to give up there time to help me im really gratefull xx
