I have FTM 12 and love it. I never have a problem syncing with my online trees and upload and download attached records and photos which does not transfer with GEDCOM.

There are some free genealogy programs. Legacy is very good.

I had this from Geni which suggests you can have any size tree for free.

You can see why we’re excited to join the MyHeritage family. MyHeritage is fully committed to Geni’s vision and you’ll see a number of benefits as a Geni user over the coming weeks and months.

Here are some of the benefits that you’ll see immediately:
•Unlimited profile adding is now free – All users can add as many profiles as they’d like to their tree without upgrading to a paid account. No more limits to the size of your tree.
•Merging is now free – All users can now merge duplicate profiles in their tree (privacy and permission rules still apply). This is great if your tree has been merged with another tree, or if you’d like to connect to the World Family Tree.
•Relationship paths are now free – Discover your relationship to historical figures and celebrities, even very distant relatives.
•Free family tree chart downloads – All users can now download a high quality chart of their family tree to their computer at no charge. These are great for sending to relatives or for printing at home as beautiful tree posters.
•No ads - We’ve removed ads for all users for a cleaner interface with less distraction.
•More privacy – living people who have not joined Geni will become private and will not be searchable on Google.

I find FTM rather useless much prefer Ancestry online but there are several
products available from LDS.

Yes, you can import a GEDCOM file into family Tree Maker but be aware that there may be some items that will not transfer across. With Family Tree maker you can have the same tree on Ancestry and have both updated at the same time and you can invite family members to view the tree. You can also make your tree on Ancestry public so that anyone can view it.

The only thing that I don't like about FTM is not having a "tree" view but you can always look at it that way on Ancestry.

Forgot to add any recommendations of how best to share (photos) and grow a tree that doesn't result in multiple costs of my extended family costing them.

I have seen a thread back on this topic but not sure how to find it. My family tree has 294 individuals and I need to purchase a package, but with the aim of sharing to pass on to extended family. I have MyHeritage Family Tree Builder 7, but this will not sync fully with my GEDCOM file now.

I could upgrade on My Heritage costing £55 or £95. But on Amazon Family Tree Maker is £40 with 6months free Ancestry.co.uk membership. The 2nd option looks best, but would like advice if this would accept the GEDCOM files, and if any of you have both and what may be best to allow family to access with minimum cost?
