Thank you all for your replies.
I am looking for an Arthur Cook ( b. 1849 ) who was supposed to have been a Sea Captain.
This info has been handed down from the family elders.
As we as researchers know sometimes stories are created to look better.
He was english but ended up living in Tasmania Australia
He was supposed to have had two shops in Hobart - one being " Cookies Fish Shop "
I have been unable to find any proof of this - maybe another story.
There also has been times that he was called James ( maybe he wanted to be connected to the famous James Cook

There are quite a few Arthur Cooks around - where was yours born?

There are a few on the Masters & Mates on Ancestry but all have middle names.

I have no idea where he was born.
He was supposed to have had a wife in England also with two daughters Alice and Annie who he brought to Australia when he went home and caught his brother with her.
He was supposed to have left them in Melbourne with relatives
