You can always post your record 'wants/needs' on this board, or the Find Ancestors board. Those of us that may have access to at least some Oz records will probably be prepared to assist. Not quite the same as finding stuff yourself - but better than nothing.

Maybe I got it confused with Ancestry.com.au. I have stupidly paid around $50 access now, and it's not going to do me all that much good. It looked like I was going to get somewhere, but I can't continue the thread the way I had intended. I guess that's probably why I didn't come back after I originally signed up.

Genes have never held Australian records as far as I am aware

Ok, I'm starting to figure some of it out, I'm managing to update more information including country on my relatives. But it seems as though any further record searching is impossible for those who are in Australia. Oh well, it's not so bad, but I had hoped it was going to be easier to link information across the countries.

My family originate from England and Wales, but came to Australia. I want to continue adding information but I don't seem to ever be able to update any information for my relatives. I can't add in birth places or search any Australian records, or even just add in more information.

Am I missing something? I joined up years ago, and I'm sure there were more Australian records available back then, but it seems as though even though there is a genesreunited.com.au site, it's completely useless to use to continue to track those relatives once they were in Australia.

I now realise I had previously created records and I can't seem to figure out how to get into that old account, and see what I had done, but I doubt there's much there. I'm just surprised that I can't edit to add missing information, and that there's no connection with any Australian information at all.
