Hi - looking for relatives who left the UK on the Rajastan on 27 October 1839 arriving in Port Adelaide on 6 February 1840. Can you please advise where to look up passengers' names and find their applications to migrate?
thanks and regards

Without knowing their surnames it would be difficult trying to help you

Do their death certs give any clues to their parents or where born?

Hi jax
thanks for taking the time to respond. I do have the names John Wood and Elizabeth Garside. One record advises they arrived on the Rajastan but another contact has advised they arrived on the Baboo. However I don't think they did arrive on Baboo
because a son Alexander was born on 20/2/1840 - 2 weeks after they arrived. This birth is recorded in SA. I haven't checked the death records yet for John Wood but will continue to look for that and see if that enlightens me at all.
However I believe there are records held perhaps in the UK archives, regarding applications to come to Australia. These records contain a fair bit of information but I not sure if they are accessible digitally. thanks and regards. :-S

Sorry but I'm not at all clear what some of those references mean, except that at least one member of the family arrived on the Baboo and other(s) on the Rajahstan - and they had 5 more children in SA.

I very much doubt that you will find any more information than that provided by Cando on Rootschat. She is a veritable expert.
