Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with trying to find a record of someone going to Prussia around 1860?

Marjorie (multiple spellings) Ord was born 1860 in Prussia but is back in Durham on the 1861 census and her two older sisters were both born in Durham a few years before Marjorie was born.

So would it be possible to find a record of the mother and possible the father going to Prussia? I have looked on here but can't find anything.

Her parents were John Ord B.1828 and Mary Ord B.1838.

Any help would be appreciated.

One its too early to be on the records on here....plus it's Europe so there may not be anything..... Have you tried to Google it?

So far unable to find parents exiting/entering UK via UK and Alien lists, or Hamburg Passenger lists :-(


1871 Census (ref: FMP)
gives birthplace of Margery Ord as Germany 1861 on transcript but Prussia British Subject on original image.
It gives birthplace of her elder sister Mary J Ord, as Durham 1854 on both transcript and original image.

Makes me think her father may have been in the Army.
Worth a search on FMP for his service records and on the same site , for his daughters birth amongst the Army birth records

I had a record of a sibling of one of my ancestors having children born in Russia in the 1860s / 1870s. He was a Cotton Mill Engineer.

I could not get anywhere .................. UNTIL I had contact with a descendant of that line.

He had most everything else wrong, but his own ancestral line was pretty correct :-)

He had the details of where and why the ancestor had gone to Russia.
