I don't think it's right for anyone here to help a paid researcher. It's against the rules to use our subscriptions for renumeration.

If you've already ruled out the above, consider that he may have been transcribed as mErchant - I've a lot of mArchants in my family.

Margee - seen your post and I tend to agree. If Diane is doing it as a favour charging only the cost of the certs, then fair enough

It does seem strange to ask for help when you are being paid.

They are paying for your expertise. Perhaps you should do a cut-price offer?

But you have stated about the payment, you could just have kept quiet about it, so it is for all to decide for themselves.

Diane's exact words were "I'm being paid for doing this tree" not that "I'm charging for the certificates".

As you say, patchem, she should have just kept quiet about being paid. I won't help.

sorry .....................

asking members who do searches for nothing, using their own money for subscriptions to other sites, when you yourself are being paid is NOT ON

and I do believe it might be against the T&C's of this site.

we help willingly ..................... but not for paid researchers.

Diane Report 7 Sep 2014 19:27

I didn't want to get paid as it is for a friend of mine but they insisted on paying me. They only pay for certificates.

To me that IS getting paid what do you think please?

Thank you for finding it for me anyway.

Diane ........

that is not getting paid, in the sense that we understand it.

Getting paid for certificates is reimbursement of what you have spent.

That's fine

Getting paid is when you get paid a per diem, or per hour, or for amount of time spent on doing the research, plus costs of travel, etc etc

ie ................. a professional working for pay.

We often help those getting reimbursement ................... in fact, I think a lot of helpers have received reimbursement from friends.

We do not help professionals getting paid for their time.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding ................ and the rough ride that you have had.

Forgive us!

Sorry, I don't buy it. Diane said originally that she was being paid for doing the tree but changed her tune when it was suggested that it was OK if she was just being reimbursed for certificates.

Diane, just out of curiosity, how many certificates have you bought, from where and how much did you pay for them?
