I've been trying to find a marriage between William Burridge b 1772 and Ruth b 1772 both of Tilsworth, Bedfordshire.

I see that somebody has them on their Wikitree online. Although they give all the references on Family Search, I have been unable to bring up a marriage between a William Burridge and Ruth Jackson in 1796 Tilsworth, Bedfordshire. I have no problem in finding their respective births.

I would be pleased as I have been looking for a while but don't want to enter the marriage until I have it confirmed.

I should be really grateful if somebody could confirm it for me.

maybe the Wikitree is wrong :-)

is there any indication whether the records are true documents, or from family genealogies posted on familysearch?

Have you tried the Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service?

lavender says she has all the information for both her William Burridge and Ruth Jackson, both born 1772 Tilsworth Bedfordshire

That's why I haven't given her any of those records.


She wants only the MARRIAGE records

The Wikitree has a question mark at the note about the marriage.

It looks as if the tree owner has taken the info from someone else's tree, on FamilySearch, but has queried it because they're not sure about it either.

The supposed marriage comes up on FS in the Community Contributed IGI, which means it's not reliable, as it's just the opinion, belief, or personal family info of a community member.

It does not show up in the Community Indexed IGI, which contains actual vital and church records.

Yes, I was trying to get that link into Family Search but hadn't appreciated that it might not be reliable although I did obviously wonder.

I hadn't found the Ruth Jackson girl at the time, only Ruth with the date of birth.

Whoever put the marriage on the tree probably assumed that Ruth Jackson was the person William married, as her christening record is the only one on FS for a Ruth in Tilsworth, in an appropriate year - and maybe she is!

Don't know where they got the date of the marriage, though, unless from looking at actual church records which have not been transcribed to FS (or anywhere else that I can see).

Yes, thank you Argyll Gran. She may well be. I wonder whether it might be on one of those Bedfordshire transcriptions on The Genealogist which were only available this summer? It was one of the reasons I was wondering whether to have a subscription but I've decided it's expensive.. :-)
