Dear friends,
One of the biggest mysteries for me is finding the death of my gt gt grandfarther George Durrell born c 1833 to John and Charlotte. He married Mary Mills in c1851.
It`s possible he spent a short time in Jail in Portsmouth 1853 for neglect of family but cant be sure this is him
We know that there is a death of a George Durrell c 1865,but strongly believe this to be the wrong one.
Any help would be most welcomed.
Kind Regards,
Glenn

Unless you've already checked out the death posted by Andrew, and found it not to be his, that seems a good possibility, as he doesn't appear to be on the 1871 census.

perhaps not ....... as a family tree has that George marrying Caroline Bussey in 1852?????

This tree also says this George Durrell died in 1865 ............... reference the registration posted by Andy

But that then leaves the George Durrell in the 1861 Census as posted by ArgyllGran

message from Glenn that the 1841 census I posted is the correct George Durrell with his parents.

Message re 1865 death I posted

Thankyou for your help, but this is the wrong George, but believe he was a relative, and married to Harriet.

So possibly this couple

(1861 Portsea)

George Durrell 50
Harriett Durrell 53

That's 3 George Durrells in Portsea in 1861,

PM re 1861 I posted:

Hi ArgyllGran,
This info is correct but his farther should be John Durrell so it`s possible that the George who is listed could be a relative while John was away doing something and missed the census.
Yours in success,
Glenn
