Australian baptism records

Hi...I recently discovered that my late mother was born a Catholic. I was always under the impression that she was Anglican from birth, but this only happened later. She grew up in the Balmain (Sydney) area and I was wondering if there is a central Catholic baptism site which I can search or can I search individual churches' archival records, and if so - where? Mum was born in 1921. I would be really grateful for any information anyone can help me with. Thankyou!

Have a read of this - it may give you some clues:-

http://www.sag.org.au/helping-you/research-guides/28-help/basics-on/48-church-records.html

You can also search here:-

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/Pages/family-history/family-history.aspx

Not sure what you will find here. I just found the sites by using Google.

Googling Balmain Sydney Catholic Diocese brings up St Augustine's Balmain
The Contacts page gives an email address for the Parish Office.

Try emailing them asking where the PR are kept - with the stringent Australian privacy laws, you might have to jump through hoops to prove that your mother has died eg a copy of the DC.
