Hi advice needed what sort of information would I need to send for a marriage certificate, how much and what information would be on the certificate
I have bride and groom date and place of marriage that's all

Researching:
Walker , Thornley and Hunt from Westhoughton area Lancashire also Cooper, James, Roscow, Scowcroft from Horwich and Bolton area of Lancashire and James from Westmorland

What's on the certificate depends on when the marriage was.

You can order it through Scotlands People. If you buy credits on the site (it's not a subscription site, sadly), you can look up the marriage with the info you already have. If it's a relatively recent marriage, beside the summary of the record there will be a button to click on to order a copy. It will cost £12.50.

If it's an older marriage (1855 - 1940), it will say "View record", and for a few more credits you can view, or print the image of the original certificate.

If it's older than 1855, the record will be a parish record, and may not be very informative, although you'll still be able to view or print it.

Researching:
Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

The marriage is 1837 but thank you for the information
