Hi all,

Does anyone know where I could access Bridgend, Glamorgan parish records?

I am willing to pay but my budget isn't much.

I am looking for a burial.

Many thanks

Someone on these boards might have access to that information, but if not, I have found that staff at Bridgend library have been incredibly helpful, when I wanted information about the area.
I contacted them by phone and e mail, but this was a few years ago.
What sort of date are you interested in ?

Try this website. They will sell copies of parish records - prices vary and they don't have all of them.

They will also look things up for you but I don't know what it costs if you aren't a member.

Also it might be worth while asking on the Welsh thread if anyone lives near enough to look in the local archives for you.

Good luck. :-)

Fantastic!!

Thank you for all your help :-)

I will look at the suggestions !

The burial is around 1950.

Although there may be parish burial records if the deceased was a church-goer, you could also consider looking for Burial registers for the local Municipal Cemetery.
By 1950, many church graveyards were, or were becoming, full.

You could also try ringing the burials officer in Bridgend County Borough Council as they record burials in council-run cemeteries. But your best bet would be the Registrar's office of the Council

Thanks all!

I have dropped an email so will see what response I get, if any, and will see where to go from there.
