Greeting's Again Linda. Just trawled the Death Index Records 1837 ~ 52. ( only one Qrt missing April 1843. Not even on the find my past site ) No sign of Robert in the Loughborough area So It's down to trawling the Parish Burial registers for Shepshed at the records Office in Wigston. MIKE.

Hi Mike I've looked at Christophers marriage cert and it states that Robert was a Labourer so he could of worked on a farm. The Sarah you found seems to fit my Sarah. In the 1851 cencus she is living with her mother in Shepshed Bridge st. Thanks Mike for your help.

Welcome Back……… Linda. Was it a question of “ What’s this button do ? “ …… To answer your question Re:~ Does the Father have to be present at the Baptism ? If you look at the Parish Baptism Registers for that year 1831. Then it was the Law that only the Fathers name & Occupation was recorded on the Registers. So the Register would read thus :~ 1831. Entry No. *** 26th. Dec. John Christopher Son of Robert & Sarah Gent. Shepshed. Fathers Occupation.:~ Then the name of the Officiating Minister. So he did not HAVE to be present. But he would not be much of a Father if he did not…….. You have the marriage certificate of John Christopher ? Have a look along to the column ( Usually the last column the right side ) Where it asks for the Occupation of the Father This might give you some clues as to were he might have been. If he was in the Farming Business then he could have been away on a farm some where. This would also explain his name not put down on the Census returns for the Gent Household There is a possibility that Robert had enlisted to fight the Crimean War 1854~56. ? MIKE. Just had a look at the 1851. Census returns HO 107 / 2084 / 404 / Page 7. Keyword = Gent. It's faint but I'm sure it states that Sarah is a Wid. aged 50 Pauper Lace Worker b Shepshed Beverly or Eliane can you confirm this please ?

Hi Mike I am new to this system and delete things I shouldn't. I have catherine and Christophers info. What's baffling me is where is Robert he is not mentioned in the 1841 nor 1851 cencus. Yes he is on christophers marriage cert in 1852 and on Catherines christening cert, but where is he? I would like to know where he was, Thanks for the help Linda.

Greeting's Again Jon O' Kent The first part of my last post was. for those Infants Thats what I wanted to you to confirm So I can see if I can find the parents of these via Parish burial registers. Some times the burial is recorded in the Parish Registers but the Burial took place else where with the Minister in attendance . I then went on to give you the lists of all other s buried with them. Hope this is clearer to understand MIKE.

Thanks Mike my Grandmother was Rose Eva Perry she died in December 1936 and lived in 28 Marriott Road with her mother Emily Jane Perry who died in a mental hospital the towers 1950. My Grandfather was William Taylor no initial on his marriege cert but with the initial F on my mother's cert at time of marriege it say's he was 24 years in 1915 so that would make 1891 his birth date he as I said was a foundry labourer and his father named George was a Brass founder Deceased by 1915. I have searched for a George Brass founder and with the help of a lady named Wendy the only one we found lived in Birmingham but that seem a bit of straw picking. hope this helps Paul just as a foot note after her parents died my mother and her eldest brother worked but the two younger siblings were put in a home My mother lived with a lady she called Aunt Nance, Nancey Hart at no 8 Martin street that you mentioned. I was born there also but we moved to liverpool when I was six months old in 1945. Paul
