Hi Mike, thanks for that. I will check the records you mentioned when I next go to the records office. Yes, those are the 10 children I know of, my nanna (William’s daughter) says that he was 1 of 13 so I am trying to find the other 3. I know one of the missing 3 was called Rose/Rosie and she died when she was a toddler. Thank again, Vicky

Mike Re: non-conformists and hen's teeth. Yes .... I had discovered that. The problem, of course, is that they often did not practice child baptisms and that not all of them kept good records. As I understand it, you could only legally get married in the CoE at the time which is why one finds marriage records but not the others.

Greeting’s Again Sarah……. Now you have some of the rough building blocks in place . You will have to verify these by a visit to the Records Office And see if there is any more details which will prove that it’s the right line you are about to follow……….. Your query the DOUBLE entry for the Marriage. William Howkins ~ Diana Briers. 1803. This could be due to a wrong transcription of the date that was stated in the first entry You can not cross out details once written on Registers. You have to make out an other entry….. Re:~ the Marriage of Fred Howkins ~ Elizabeth Pickering 1900.July August Sept Qrt. Ashby de la Zouch District ( Woodville ) I can not get an answer from my colleague. So it looks like you’ll have to order the Certificate using the Ref No.’s I’ve given you before. Sorry the answer will have to be paid for this time and not come free via your PC screen. This also goes for the Marriage Gertrude Weston ~ Clarke In the Baptist Chapel 1906. Oadby June. Qrt. Blaby District. Cert No. 7 a. 108. The Records Office do not hold Baptist Chapel Records .....Sorry MIKE.
