Greeting’s Again ……… Sarah. Surly the details for Richard Barsby’s Burial was in my last post ? His age is only two years out & the year matches ? Having lived & worked in Oadby myself for 8 years, back in the 60's In fact I married an Oadby girl in St.Peter’s Parish Church. I know that the Churchyard around the Church is only very small.. As to the location I would think in would have to be in the Civic Cemetery On the Wigston Lane next to the “ Walter Charles Centre “ Walter Charles was my Wife’s Grandfather…….. Anne Report 24 May 2007 23:40

Hi I was wondering if you could help. I have hit a brick wall concerning my 3x Great Grandmother MARY LAGOR. She married JOHN FARRin Nov 1846 in Markfield, Leicestershire. According to their marriage cerificate she lived in Markfield and her father was WILLIAM LAGOR On 1851 census Mary and John Farr are down as FAN in the search list. It states Mary was born in Stanton Under Bardon (its slightly misspelt) born c1820 On 1861 census she listed as FARR living Stanton under Bardon again born 1820 (John died 1866) On 1871 she listed as Fass living with daughter Lois still born in Stanton under Bardon born 1819. I have searched church records for Stanton under Bardon, Thornton(Stanton amalgamated with Thornton), Markfield but cannot find any birth records or any record of her on 1841 census(was she still at home) Also William (father) is not listed as deceased on marriage cert but can find nothing of him anywhere or any census Where could I look next. Without finding William or Mary in 1841 I cannot find any wife/mother so can go no further What would you do Anne

Beverly Report 25 May 2007 11:39

Hi Anne There is a Mary Lager on 1841 census living in Glenfield could this be her. Wm Astill 19 Ann Bailey 11 Mary lager 20 Thos Leach 15 John Tar 20 Wm Turner 6 Could John tar be John Farr Bev

Anne

Anne Report 25 May 2007 17:14

Hi Bev I actually looked at that entry before and wasnt sure and never spotted the John Tar. I have looked again and this time I actually looked at the original census return. I think that the transcriber of this entry did not look correctly as to me it is an F not a T so would make it Farr. I have never been able to find John in 1841 so thanks for pointing this out. Have you been able to find any info on William Lagor. My sister says that he may not have come from Leicestershire as it would seem that with all the different surnames at the house where Mary was residing in 1841 that this could be a boarding house. I am still at a blank as to finding Marys birth or mother Thanks Anne

Hi Sarah Have you viisted bmdshare.com? You will find a marriage cert there for a Sarah Barsby marrying Charles Gilbert but the message with it reads St Johns St Oadby Leicester. She states Spinster on the cert, but had married a William Barsby, he died. So it should read Widow. Her maiden name was Robinson. Might be useful! Elaine
