TinaTheCheshirePussyCat Report 4 Sep 2006 11:56

EIGHT weeks, Merry? Are you sledding across the Antarctic, and do Jess and Bobbin know about this? Ah well, just think, you will be back just in time to prepare for this year's Christmas jaunt. Have fun, wherever you are. Tina

Tina.....I meant an 8 week GR ban for swearing!! (Surely Turnip is a swear word? It's the only one I can remember Glen using?!!!) Merry

Glen I enjoy reading your posts (and many others on here). I also enjoy your sense of humour. I would love to join in sometimes but I'm not the best with words. Keep it up! Elaine

Glen In Tinsel Knickers

Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 4 Sep 2006 20:22

Had a bit of an apology about an hour ago from one of the pair. Thinly disguised,as it still was a backhanded dig at me,this time for not helping someone yesterday evening. Somebody is heading for a bit more than they bargained for if they carry on, Glen

Snowdrops in Bloom

Snowdrops in Bloom Report 4 Sep 2006 20:27

Oh right, so now you're OBLIGED to help are you Glen? Do this person think you are a paid assistant? Does he/she not realise you (as we all do) help out of the goodness of your own heart? Please shout loud and clear the warning bells when either of them post Glen! Snowdrops

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Sep 2006 20:33

Ah Glen, they're not worth losing sleep over... at least they 'tried' to make it right, which I guess is quite hard when you've typed something you shouldn't have to someone you don't really know and then you have to wriggle & squirm because you can't untype it. (We know each other on here, to an extent, but only the face we choose to show if you know what I mean). Sarah :-)

I’m new to this art, but support you regular researchers (crawl, crawl). Shame Tinsel; tell these ungrateful urchins where to get off!! Thanks for all the tips, lists etc posted to date. Caz

Jo Jo Report 4 Sep 2006 21:49

Glen I always thought when a ‘can you help me’ thread was posted it was up to individuals to help or not help. I did not realise that it was compulsory!!!!! I for one am most grateful for any help given, but I do not take it as a given right to receive help. JoJo

Ooops, sorry Merry! I forgot that you are so refined and ladylike that an earthy word like T.....s would appear to your delicate and fragile mind as being unsuitable for civilised company! And there was me imagining that your were planning to abandon us of your own free will. Glen - you are too much of a gentleman for your own good, as I am sure Mrs G is always telling you. Report the stupid so-and-so's - they are taking the p***. Tina

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 4 Sep 2006 22:20

I think that some members of GR are so far removed from reality that when they see regular posters, they assume (oh, that word again!) that they are 'on the Payroll', being quite unable to understand why anyone (certainly not them) would want to help other people for nothing. OC

The Ego Report 4 Sep 2006 23:06

Glen, If this makes you feel better I had someone come on tips once, who never shows their face ,and for some reason said to me on tips-' next time you get involved leave it to us professionals '.....this person hadnt a clue ,it was pitiful and just spiteful and ignorant.

Hiya Glen you do a fantastic job as do a great many people on this board, I am amazed at how rude some people are. Don't know if I can post this here, but its from the top of the records board and if those 2 are reading they may want to take note, here goes Please note: members who do lookups do so out of a desire to help and are not paid or endorsed by GR. Not sure if I should report Merry for saying 'T******s'? In fact, this completely vegetablist tone is quite out of order. I've just had an e-mail from a nice girl who thanked me for helping her but said she wasn't going back to the Records Board because someone had sent her an 'abrupt' message. I said that she shouldn't let anyone else's negativity stop her and that plenty of us are willing to help.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Sep 2006 09:04

Oh dear Helen, I hope that wasn't me who sent the abrupt message to the poor girl yesterday. Sometimes when I come back to my burial thread, there are so many requests in the queue, that I just bang the results out as quickly as I can. Also from a looker ups point of view, it can be a trifle trying when it is obvious that despite instructions in block capitals on the top of the look ups offer, the person asking for help hasn't bothered to read them before posting. That means I have to spend even more time trying to find the information they should have given me in the first place. As for the people who totally ignore the block capitals and send their requests in private messages!!!!!!!!! Can you guess that I have a stonking cold and am feeling off colour!!! Anyway just in case it was me who was short with someone yesterday, I apologise to all and sundry. Linda
