There's this on GRO (Ancestry-FreeBMD): Name: Thomas Trundley Year of Registration: 1839 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Cambridge (1837-1935) County: Cambridgeshire Volume: 14 Page: 6 which goes nicely with: CAMDEX- Births Index- TRUNDLEY, Thomas (1839) Surname: TRUNDLEY Forename: Thomas Middle Initial: Year of Birth: 1839 Reference: 331/SAL 02/156 District: Cambridge Christine

I've found one of the 1841 records Victoria mentions... Name: Thomas Broain - ''Shoem.'' (?shoemaker??) Age: 30 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1811 Household: View other family members Gender: Male Where born: Cambridgeshire, England Civil parish: St Andrew the Less Hundred: Cambridge Borough HO107; Civil Parish: St Andrew the Less; County: Cambridgeshire; Enumeration District: 11; Page: 9 others in household (ignoring the extras for now) Anty Trundler abt 1821 Cambridgeshire, England Thomas Trundler abt 1839 Cambridgeshire ''Trundler'' is as reasonable a transcription as any. I'd be inclined to transcribe the first name as ''A?ty'', but, again ''Anty'' isn't unreasonable. Christine

Don't know whether any of these would be of any use - from the CambridgeshireBMD site: CAMDEX- Births Index- BROWNING, Alfred (1850) Surname: BROWNING Forename: Alfred Middle Initial: Year of Birth: 1850 Reference: 331/SAL 011/139 District: Cambridge CAMDEX- Births Index- BROWNING, Rebecca (1853) Surname: BROWNING Forename: Rebecca Middle Initial: Year of Birth: 1853 Reference: 331/SAL 013/386 District: Cambridge CAMDEX- Births Index- BROWNING, Henry (1855) Surname: BROWNING Forename: Henry Middle Initial: Year of Birth: 1855 Reference: 331/FUL/10/157 District: Cambridge CAMDEX- Births Index- BROWNING, Sarah (1858) Surname: BROWNING Forename: Sarah Middle Initial: A Year of Birth: 1858 Reference: 331/FUL/11/463 District: Cambridge I noticed that, on the census, the later two have a different PoB specified from the earlier two. Just checked on Genuki, and Fulbourn is in the Chesterton District. By the same token, I guess ''SAL'' means ''St Andrew the Less''. Christine

She says, on the census, that she was born in Swavesey, Cambridge. Victoria

Hi Nell, The way it's been transcribed it sounds like the French prononciation for Antoinette so that would explain no birth or christening.... could they have married (or not perhaps?) in France? and could she have gone home to die? It is all feasible - but possibly too easy? Sarah :-)

Well, I have tried everything I could think of and had no success with the census' either. I looked at the image and it certainly does say Antauantte. Sounds like two names run together. I have also gone through the 1841 Swaversey (St Andrew the Less) census and think that just maybe she was Ann Tavner (run that together!) Harvey prior to her marriage to Thomas. The only other name I thought it could be was Harriett. I am not familiar with the Cambridge accent but.....? There is a dressmaking Ann Tavner Harvey (21) living with Frances Tavner (45) a laundress and George Harvey 7 months. Only thing is - what happened to George! I also tried the IGI but there is a distinct paucity of records from St Andrew the Less!! Sorry. I really did try and am SUCH a disappointment to myself!! Victoria

Alfred Browning Jun Q 1850 Cambridge, Rebecca Browning Mar Q 1853 Cambridge or Marian Elizabeth Browning 1856 St Neots look likely candidates for the purchase of a birth cert...... Peter

There is a Thomas Browning (W) in the 1881 census born 1807 Thorney Abbey Cambs, living in a Union Workhouse in Yorkshire. I would bet on her name being Antoinette..... having said that - free BMD doesn't appear to be fully transcribed for Browning deaths, but if it is the right Thomas then she must have died - looks like you need to trawl ancestry deaths (but if you do a BMD search for Browning deaths 1861 to 81 in Cambs and Yorks you could list the quarters that HAVEbeen transcribed which would make the search shorter) Then of course she may have died elsewhere..... Peter
