Roger!!! Your sock drawer is only tidy because your OH uses all the spare ones to do Olde Crone style dusting (see above)! Merry

Merry, I am old enough to be your father...and if you were part of my family I would not be married to your mother! Oi? I retired a few years ago and up until then my OH and I both shared the housework. OH tended to be IC house/garden/cooking/shopping etc but I dabbled at the weekends to show willing. When I called it a day from the NHS we decided that it was my turn to do and OH's turn to have a break. The good news is that when I come up to the 'puter to read the boards I don't often get a complaint. The only worry is that I am totally confounded by OH's ability to hold down a full time job for all those years and keep my sock drawer tidy at the same time! I enjoy the doing and OH enjoys me doing it but where do the days go? I certainly wouldn't be able to find the time for even part time work now. My only slovernly area is the room I keep my 'puter and records and guitar in...it is mine and no-one else needs to go near it or as sure as God made them little green appples one of my important scraps of paper would be hidden for weeks if not for ever. I don't know about corrupting me, but it has certainly affected my sleep patterns. I don't know why, but I get all my leads in the small hours and know that if I leave it, I won't find my place again.!!! Wondering if this is normal???

TWO HANDED DUSTING (Scholarship Level Entrants only) Get two odd socks out of that bag in the airing cupboard. Put one on each hand. Dash madly round the house touching all horizontal surfaces. Stop at any ornaments you are stupid enough to have on display. Pick up ornament, swirl it quickly round, as if wringing out a dishcloth, swipe where it stood, replace ornament. Large vertical surfaces can be quickly dusted by wearing an old pair of bobbly trousers, slither quickly along the walls or doors, rotating self as you go. Best done on the way to answer the doorbell. Both trousers and socks can be turned inside out to be used again. OC

I've just finished the ironing and pegged out another load of washing. Tesco's was crowded this morning but I prefer to go and get my own rather than have them deliver it because then I can put everything in the right bag so that when I get back home they are in the right place for putting away. When I got out of the shower this morning I asked my wife what she thought the neighbours would think if I walked down the road in the buff. She said, 'Easy, they'd think I married you for your money'. Got to get our lunch now, Roger GC

I would add, that being a benevolent employer, I am allowing Glen to freelance for a time (1 cert commission to me). Glen, you thought about subcontracting to young Michael for a bit of shopping and cooking? (You see you need an entrepreunerial brain like mine to actually make the big bucks - you wont make it alone). And what about offering the bed warming service for elderly ladies in poor health that we had a thread on about yesterday?

I occasionally venture down to Tesco, to join the scrum fighting for the baguette that someone has just stuck a label on saying '7p'. So much more fun than doing it all online. And I like cooking too. Does this disqualify me?
