Glen In Tinsel Knickers

Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 27 Jun 2006 14:23

I'm a complete addic, plain and simple (very plain and very simple before anyone should comment). The other half has threatened me with plastic surgery, she is about to remove my hands from the credit card! Could some kind soul start a whipround for a desperately needed cert,if the occupation is correct for the grooms father it could take me back two more generations. Glen (now qualified in most things 'Hay' related).

Kate.... There is a special course you can go on where you only pop along when your internet connection has failed. It's about 15 minutes per year. At the end you get a PhD in housewifery (because by then your house will whiff) and a gold-bordered certificate in a polished oak-like frame with a facsimile of Heather's signature..... Enjoy! Merry

There's the Heather Positive Thinker School of Housework.... Curriculum: Lessons on the following: 10 second house polish 20 second bathroom clean 30 second dust removal 40 second downstairs refurb 50 second upstairs refurb 1 minute total house springclean (advanced level students only) I am still at the intermediate level.....I am proficient at the 10 second polish.......Take one can of Spray Polish - run through the house with it, spraying one squirt into each room. Leave can and duster near the front door, so if anyone comes in they can see how much cleaning you have done................ Merry

I was reading that message then and thinking 'well how the heck can they say it's a hobby and how has it corrupted them??' - and then I got to the end - pmsl!! I tell ya, everyone thinks it's a boring nerdy hobby, but it doesn't take long to get you hooked does it? You lie in bed going over it in your head and want to get out of bed and switch your PC on again just to check something out - and 3 hours later when hubby / wife comes looking, you slope off back to bed like a sulky teenager, with backward glances at your PC and giving daggers to other half's back!!!! Thanks for the laugh!

Its certainly made aliar out of me - I have just rushed out in my DG to hand the wheelie bin to the binnies, saying, gosh, I did a late shift last night (well I did - on here!) Any minute now I am going to get showered and dressed, have my breakfast, hoover, polish and tidy, do six months ironing and clean the car inside and out. Olde Crone, who welcomed yesterday's downpour with delight, thinking, oh goody, that'll get the worst of the muck of the windows.

I was going to go to the Over fifties swin in our local pool this morning and then I opened my E.mail and there was one from a man in Australia who was related to one of my father's school friends thanking me for the census images I sent him of his family and I wondered if he he would like the Somerset trade directory listing for their grocery shop and then there is this chap in Canada who wants some pictures of a local church for his web site...... When I looked at the clock it was too late. I had even packed my swimming costume. My name is Anne and I am an addict.

Dea, is that grandchild available for hire? If you put little dusters over her shoes she could get it all done in half the time. And just think, as she grows she could reach the windows to clean them. Well actually you could get her one of those squeeze things on a pole now couldnt you. Blimey, roll on grandchildren, eh?

Elizabeth - Many thanks for that tip - I never thought of that (and I have some of those masky things in the garage!!) - I will go and find one and have it ready before she comes again on Friday!! Dea x P.S. - She also has a plastic raincoat which will cover up the rest of her - I'll make sure she brings that with her too. X

Elizabeth Report 27 Jun 2006 08:50

Dea, Don't be silly. Just buy one of those face masks, cut it down to size and let her go.

My little grand-daughter is now 16 months old and for some reason has just started 'dusting' (I hasten to add, she hasn't learnt it from me - It must be her mother's influence!!!). Anyway, she did this the other day - picked some tissues out of the box, carefully arranged them in her little hand and started dusting away at my coffee table - on top, AND underneath, up and down all the legs - she then went around the whole room - unfortunately, there was so much dust there I had to quickly get out a duster and flick it all off before she got to the next place, otherwise she would have been 'covered' . I do hope she gets out of the habit soon!! Dea x

Sorry, Tiger. Run that one past me again - what is washing, and what on earth are dishcloths and shoe-polish? I only have mountains of scraps of paper surrounded by dust.

They must be - on some census returns, I've seen some wive's occupations listed as 'household duties' - what's that all about then!
